Nutmeg Meltaways
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup ground almonds (approximately 3 oz), toasted
1 tbsp ground nutmeg
1/2 cup sugar
2 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup powdered sugar
Directions
Lightly toast the almonds in oven at 250° F for approximately 10 minutes. Watch closely so not to burn.
In a mixing bowl cream together the butter, sugar, and vanilla. Gradually add flour; mix well. Stir in almonds.
Shape into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 300° F for 18 to 20 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned. Gently roll cooled cookies in powdered sugar.
