Chocolate Decadence Cake

Ingredients

Cake

3 square semi-sweet chocolate
1 pkg chocolate cake mix or pudding/cake mix
4 eggs
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup oil

Fruit Nut Filling & Frosting

3/4 cup butter, softened
3 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 cup powdered sugar (additional)
3 tbsp milk
1/3 cup dates, chopped
1/3 cup raisins
1/3 cup almonds, chopped
5 square unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp milk

Directions

Chop chocolate into small chunks and set aside. Combine cake mix, eggs, water, sour cream, and oil. Blend, then beat at medium speed for 4 minutes. Fold in chopped chocolate. Pour in 2 greased and floured 9 inch layer pans.

Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until cake is done. Cool in pans for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and finish cooling.

Fruit Nut Filling:

Beat butter until soft. Blend in powdered sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Add additional powdered sugar alternately with milk until desired spreading consistently. Set aside 1 cup of mixture in small bowl for filling.

Filling - Stir in chopped dates, raisins, and almonds into the 1 cup mixture. Spread between layers of cake.

Frosting - Melt unsweetened chocolate; cool, add to remaining mixture. Add 2 tbsp milk for smooth consistency. Frost cake.
